New Comprehensive and GDPR-compliant Policies

It's been a long time (almost 5 years!) since we last updated the policies governing our apps. Back then, we had hired a law firm to craft the terms for us. They did a good job but lots have changed since then, notably with the adoption of strict data privacy laws in Europe and California. We thought it was time to review and update our policies accordingly.

We used Basecamp open-source policies as a starting point. They wrote user-friendly policies for their products that are mostly free of convoluted legal jargon. We adapted the policies to our needs and that resulted in this list of documents that constitute the new policies for all our apps:

If you don't have time to read it all, here are some key points we want to highlight:

  • The content that you create and the entries that you collect are yours and we will never sell any of it. Our business model is simple - we charge money for our apps!
  • If you close your account or trash a poll you created, all data will be permanently and irrevocably deleted after 30 days.
  • When you sign up for an account, we ask permission to fetch your name, profile picture and email address from your Facebook profile. We do not fetch anything else from your Facebook profile.
  • Our servers are located in the United States and operated by Amazon Web Services. We go to great lengths to make sure that your data always stays safe.

Have any questions, comments, or concerns about these policies, your data, or your rights with respect to your information? Please get in touch by emailing us at privacy@coderubik.com and we’ll be happy to answer them!
